1960’S FARMHOUSE - WAITSFIELD, VERMONT

This renovation project began with a distinctive 1960s gentleman’s farm. The vision, led by architect Ellen Strauss and realized in collaboration with Roots Builders, was to preserve the home’s unique character while modernizing it for today’s lifestyle. The result is a thoughtful blend of history and contemporary living that respects the property’s heritage while enhancing its functionality, comfort, and energy efficiency.

Throughout, the home received new windows, updated bathrooms, improved lighting, and a reimagined kitchen/pantry, as well as carefully integrated modern systems to ensure year-round comfort.
